October Unsigned Band of the Month Runner-up: Currents

Currents

Los Angeles-based alternative rock band Currents has seen enough competition in their hometown to know what works. In a music scene saturated with venues and hundreds of bands, it can be difficult to shine. Some bands do stand out, however, and Currents is certainly one of them.

The band has only been together for four months, but they’re already taking the local scene by storm, playing shows with several national acts. Their music has been featured on AOL music, and their recent self-titled EP, produced by Justin Powell (The Cab) and Kyle Black (Set Your Goals, Pierce the Veil) has been reviewed by many national publications. Perhaps the secret to their fast-growing fanbase is their widely-appealing sound. Drawing influence from bands like Thrice, Taking Back Sunday, and Paramore, their music is a just-right blend of heavy and light.

The band is currently gearing up to tour in January and will release a music video for their song “L is for Lush” soon!
