[This post is one from the Scene[essence] archives. We thought it had been lost, but it was recently found!] When the name Chris Moore comes up, many people know him as a former keyboardist of We Came as Romans. Or maybe they know him as the guy who used to do screams in I See Stars. We’re here to tell you that there is more than one reason to be familiar with who Chris Moore is as a person, and as an artist! From designing shirts for GHSTapparel, to graphic design with ZERO ART studios, to his solo music project, CDVR, this man can do it all.
Who are some of your musical influences?
My musical influences are all over the place. My collections of albums is pretty eclectic so for a track it can vary as much from Jimi Hendrix to M.I.A or Angels & Airwaves to Kid Cudi. I love all types of music (except country) and I try to embrace it all in my music.
Any guilty pleasures musically?
No guilty pleasures! I’m not afraid to admit what I listen to. Lately, I have been listening to a lot of Jamiroquai & Ke$ha though!
What is in the works for CDVR?
Currently, I’m working on my debut full length entitled ‘DARK$IDE” and I’m also putting together an east coast run for March. My album will also feature a short film in which all of my songs will be tied into. I’m really stoked on shooting it.
What sort of direction are you looking to take CDVR in?
I’m looking to constantly create a universal genre, but, on this next release I’m looking to put out a psychedelic space-hop album. I want to bring a lot more visuals to the table with my style &just go all out.
What was your inspiration for creating a clothing company?
The fact that I’m a ghost to the corporate world. I feel like a lot of our youth and elders are striving to become one, so, I just wanted to create something that would bring us peoples together.
Anything new coming up for GHST apparel?
Lots, I’m looking to really haute couture, in which, I’ll be putting out 25 hand made shirts numbered shirts for the spring line. I want it to become more personal and I’m looking to turn into a charitable organization for the ghosts of the world that the corporate tyrants have let behind.
Tell us a little about ZERO ART studios…
Zero Art studios is the visual representation of my mind. I do graphic design, photography, and illustration for companies, bands, labels and so forth. It’s basically what takes up my time when I’m not writing or recording. I’ve been doing it for the past 5 years or so and it makes me love my job, I get to work in my PJs!
Is there a favorite client or project you’ve worked with or at least one that stands above the rest?
Definitely the band Attila from Atlanta, Georgia. We worked on their debut album artwork and set up a huge party / photo shoot in my basement. The concept was the life of the party so we just went off on it. You can view it at http://zeroartstudios.com ;; absolutely my favorite project.
Do you have any sort of special training for any of the projects you are involved in, or did you just sort of learn it on you own?
Nah, I never went to school for graphic design. Pretty much, I dropped out when I was 15 to get home-schooled and since then I just took my extra time to work on designs and music.
A lot of people know Chris Moore, the artist. But who is Chris Moore, the person?
I am my art. If you read my lyrics, I’m basically just describing my personal views and putting out a reflection of self. CDVR = Chris Moore /// Chris Moore = CDVR
Anything you’d like to include that maybe we didn’t ask?
Be on the look out for my album “DARK$IDE” to drop in April, as well as, the short film that goes hand in hand with.
