“This video basically continues on where ‘Dark Days’ left off,” says drummer Ben Gordon who notes that both videos were the concept of director Aaron Hymes. “Dark Days’ was commentary on present day and showed the worlds state of environmental Crisis. ‘Wild Eyes’ is set in the near future, after the World has been destroyed by man.”

Gordon goes on to say, “the lyrical concept of ‘Wild Eyes’ deals with inevitable the end of the world and the impact of our actions so we ran with that idea pretty literally, taking inspiration from post apocalyptic images portrayed through films over the years. We are all stoked on this video!”

Atlas, the fourth studio album from this electrifying young band has received an enthusiastic welcome by fans, immediately hitting the #7 position on the iTunes overall charts and reached #32 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Revered purveyors of metallic mayhem Every Time I Die have just announced that they will be headlining the third annual installment of the All Stars Tour. The tour also features Chelsea Grin, Veil of Maya, Terror, Stray From The Path, Capture The Crown, IWrestledABearOnce, For All Those Sleeping and DayShell. Structures, Volumes and other special guests will also be performing in select markets. The All Stars Tour is set to kick off Friday, July 19th in New York and wrap Saturday, August 17th in Hartford, CT. Tickets go on sale Thursday, May 9th at 10am PST/1pm EST. Buffalo’s brutal heavy rock ensemble Every Time I Die will be out on the road in continued support of their powerful and critically acclaimed album, Ex Lives which hit 20 on Nielsen Soundscan this past March. The record was produced by renowned heavy rock producer Joe Barresi (Tool, The Melvins, Queens of the Stone Age, Parkway Drive) and contains magnificently heavy and cathartic onslaught of modern hardcore infused metal. Ex Lives is the band’s sixth full-length studio album and much anticipated follow up to their 2009 breakthrough New Junk Aesthetic which Absolute Punk heralded as a musical “weapon of mass destruction”.

At any rate, it was clear that both headlining bands, assisted by their friends in Mayday Parade, and You Me At Six, had all become great friends by the time the tour hit it’s stop in Towson, Maryland on April 28th. From the moment the tour was announced, fans knew to expect something big. Post-hardcore and pop bands rarely make arena tours, so quite a lot of buzz arose when it was announced that for their hometown show, All Time Low would be playing at the Towson Center Arena, a college basketball arena.

On the day of the show, it was clear that there were some die-hard fans that had been waiting since dawn to get up front for this show. The line was one of the most impressive I’ve ever seen at a concert, wrapping almost completely around the arena complex. Once the doors open, the arena was flooded with a mass of bodies, ready for the show to begin.

You Me At Six hit the stage first. With quite a following, YMAS is one of those bands that could be headlining any tour the want. The fact that they agreed to open the tour meant that there was headlining-quality showmanship throughout the whole night. They played a high energy set, throwing themselves around the stage. They played a 7 song setlist that started with “Loverboy” and included their hits “Stay With Me” and “The Underdog.”

Mayday Parade took the stage next. AGain, this band could have been a headlining band for another tour but they chose to open for their friends in Pierce the Veil (the bands have made their close friendship quite public, and it was nice to see them finally on tour together). The band has been around for quite a while, with enough time to make quite an established following. During their 8 song set, they took the time to play several songs from their debut LP A Lesson In Romantics. Their setlist included such hits as “Black Cat,” “Jamie All Over,” and “When You See My Friends.” A guest appearance by Vic Fuentes was also made during their fourth song, a cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” that they recorded for Punk Goes Pop 5.

The first major set change was made when Pierce The Veil came onstage. The stage featured a Tim Burton-inspired factory set complete with turning gears and a towering backdrop. The band came onstage to the ambient Spanish guitar of “May these Noises Startle You in Your Sleep Tonight,” the intro track to their latest album, Collide With the Sky, then launching seamlessly into “Hell Above.” Pierce the Veil is one of those bands that always puts on a good show. Their high energy sets are always a blast to watch, and this show was no exception. With the benefit of an excellent production budget, the band was able to kick it up yet anothre notch, with their stage set, fantastic lights, smoke machines, and confetti blasts. In the middle of the set, as they were about to launch into fan-favorite “Hold on Till May,” Vic took a moment and dedicated the song to his older brother, who recently beat cancer. He noted that “This might be someone’s first show, and you never know if it might be your last. So let’s make tonight the best night of our lives.”

The next song was a rather touching salute to fans, as he told the audience that he was going to perform an acoustic version of their song “I’m Low on Gas and You Need a Jacket” because as he put it, “I want to hear each and every one of your voices sing along over me.” After the acoustic refrain, the band picked up the energy again, to close out their set with “Caraphernelia,” “Bulls in the Bronx,” and “King For a Day.”

All Time Low took the stage after another set change. Their stage featured huge spotlights in the background with the initials ATL in giant circular panels. The band was called onto the stage by Baltimore’s local beer-mascot-turned-hero Natty Boh. One by one, the band filed out onstage to unique boxing-announcer style introductions. In American-flag print satin robes and gloves, they took their spots on the stage, and launched into their hit “Lost in Stereo.” The band kept the energy up throughout their impressive 14-song set, playing songs from albums old and new, and keeping things interesting with their unique brand of inappropriate humor (though they had toned it down from previous shows, noting that “it’s awkward making #$%* jokes in front of my mom and dad”). They took breaks in between songs to talk about how much their fans meant to them, and reminisce about other hometown shows that they had played in the past. It’s become a fan tradition to throw bras onstage during the band’s performances, and this was no exception. Guitarist Jack Barakat tenderly collected the undergarments from the floor, and placed them on his microphone stands. Other fan contributions to the stage also included a rubber chicken, which can be seen in a gallery below.

Though the band has quite a bit of history and a rather impressive discography for a pop band, they managed to please all kinds of fans, featuring songs as old as “Coffee Shop Soundtrack,” to more recent hits like “If These Sheets Were States.” The entire arena was screaming along to their set from start to finish. They closed out their set with the ever-popular “Dear Maria, Count Me In,” and the crowd was free to leave and reminisce about how they might never see such an awesome concert again.

Nothing To Be Gained Here takes the listener through the multiple personalities of the band, creating a powerful trip for the listener. The album’s peaks and valleys are strung together by the monstrous and soulful rhythm section, comprised of Michael Sadis on bass and Billy Rymer on drums (Dillinger Escape Plan), as well as Ryan Hunter’s (Envy on the Coast) visceral and uninhibited lyrics and vocal style. On “Confessional”, “Shoulder Gorilla”, “Kings” and “Set a Fire”, the band shows their affinity for heavy music, with Rymer giving the listener a bit of his signature drumming style he’s become known for, but also embracing a more open, deeper style of playing we haven’t heard on his prior work. Abrasive guitars and fuzzed out bass tones match Rymer’s style of playing, while Hunter’s vocal style is a fusion of rhythmic aggression and a unique approach to melody. On “Vacation Days” and “Memo”, the band turns down the gain and embraces a warmer, down-tempo, soulful side. With Mike Sapone (Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, O’ Brother) and Hunter taking on production duties, Nothing To Be Gained Here, is an extremely rhythmic, lyrically dense, and dynamic debut full length.

During tracking, one of metal’s most acclaimed drummers, Shannon Lucas, stepped in as the session drummer for the album. The album also features a guest guitar solo by Producer Jason Suecof, and will be mastered by Joey Vera of Armored Saint. Vera also mastered the band’s cover of Pantera‘s ‘Hostile’, which was released as a single last summer. As previously announced, Kevin Talley will be stepping in to play drums for the band on their two upcoming live performances at the New England Metal & Hardcore Fest (this weekend) and the Orion Music & More Festival (6/08-6/09).
